Craven Council join the REAL marquee

Craven District Council’s Economic Development unit will be exhibiting at Kilnsey Show in the REAL business marquee.

The Council is offering people a chance to have their say about what they want to happen in Craven in terms of economic development. Visitors will be invited to write and draw their ideas on an interactive board at the Council’s stand.

The Council aims to promote and support rural businesses and regeneration and will be showcasing its successes including work on the Renaissance Market Town and the Creative Craven Network.

The Renaissance Market Town (RMT) initiative was launched by Yorkshire Forward in 2002. Its aim is to generate sustainable economic development within our rural capitals and encourage people to live, work and invest in them. Settle Market Town joined the initiative in 2003 and has undertaken projects such as the regeneration of the town’s riverside area. Craven District Council works closely with the Settle Area Renaissance Team (StART) on the RMT programme.

The Creative Craven Network aims to encourage creative professionals from across Craven to come together to learn new ideas for boosting their income. The network encourages people to share ideas on anything from breaking into new markets to cash management and how to earn more from their work. The group is open to people a wide variety of sectors such as music, marketing, and public relations as well as art and culture.
